Most Black practitioners in Britain learn to work in translation. You take the training, you pass the exams, and then you sit with a client and quietly do the other work — the part your supervisor has no framework for, the part you cannot write in the notes. Then you do it again the next day, alone.

Membership is an end to working in translation. It puts you among people who share the ground you practise from, and gives you access to the scholarship that makes that practice defensible as well as true.
Access to Afrikan Scholarship
UKABPsi membership connects you to scholars who have shaped Afrikan psychology across five decades of work. Their material is taught in sequence, building from foundations rather than dropping you into the middle — which matters when the subject has been kept out of the training most of us received.

What you take from it is yours to use. Deeper knowledge, sharper practice, and a professional grounding that does not require you to leave your people at the door.

UKABPsi members are also expected to hold membership of the Association of Black Psychologists, the national body in the United States, as either a General Member or a Student Member. Full details are on the ABPsi website.
